In the course of fifty years in the steel industry, I have witnessed quantum changes in the commercial landscape. Steel trading, once a function of proprietary information, carefully cultivated personal contacts and, in no small measure, an appetite for risk, has given way to globalization, instantaneous communications and financial derivatives.
Trading margins have been significantly reduced throughout the world but Steel Resources LLC, through our affiliates and global commercial network has developed a dynamic and profitable industrial base to maintain our strong balance sheet. Today, while history and relationships are still extremely important, a company’s success is very much determined by the professional execution of business strategies, strict attention to the smallest details, total dedication to customer requirements and the education and advancement of its people. I am proud to have seen Steel Resources evolve and grow into a company that embodies these values and I am convinced that we are well positioned for future growth and success.
